Shark Fest, Cape Coral, Florida

Picture it... You’re in Florida enjoying the beach and all of a sudden someone yells “SHARK” and it is a mad dash for shore. Well not so at Shark Fest. Shark Fest is an annual family centered shark themed, festival and boat show which started in 2006.

The festival features an “Are You Man Enough Shark Challenge” which is a high stake team game of two day shark fishing tournament. There is $1500 in prizes at stake. The festival takes place at Cape Harbor, Cape Coral, Florida. Cape Harbor is an exclusive yachting community.

The Shark Fest is held on a Saturday and Sunday in early summer and is filled with unique crafters and vendors. Boats are displayed by local venders with hopes of making a sale.

There is a “Kidzone” area which is filled with interactive games, rides and shark shows for the kid in all of us. Climb a rock wall, slide down the 20 foot slide or enjoy the bounce house in the zone. The kids can enter the coloring contest where every entry is a winner.

The weekend starts off with a “kick off “ party on the pavilion of Cape Harbour where there is live music, and mechanical shark riding contest. The most exciting part of the kick off party is the centerpiece of Sharkfest , the “Sharktron”. It is a two story jumbo screen that shows videos of sharks being caught in the last year’s catch-and-release tournament.

Shark fest is a great way to spend the weekend with your family in Cape Coral, Florida. Enjoy.
