Hanalei Beach, Kauai, Hawaii

Hanalei Beach

Hawaii is one of the most beautiful of the 50 States and has so many beaches for you to enjoy whether you are visiting or living there. A beach to visit for sure is Hanalei Beach in Kauai. It is well known for it’s spectacular beauty, with a 2 mile half moon bay ringed by white sand beach.

The town of Hanalei is located on the north shore of the island of Kauai near the mouth of the Hanalei River. The town itself is small with a population of 478 in 2000.

The beach has soft, fine, white sand for throwing a frisbee, walking, sunning, swimming, boogie boarding and surfing. It was selected by “Mr Beach”, Stephen Leatherman, as one of the top 10 beaches in 2009. It's one of the best spots for surfing, on the right days there are some major waves. However, this can also lead to some very strong currents, so pay attention to the beach flags.

The Hanalei Pier is on the east side of the long beach if you want to get a little fishing done. There are picnic areas with grass and shade as well as pavilians with restrooms, and showers. Near the beach you fine first class resorts and golf courses for your enjoyment.

When sitting on the beach in the early morning the water is like glass and mirrors the sheer cliffs around it. Look around you from the beach and take note of the majestic mountains surround the town.

Hanalei was the back drop of the musical “South Pacific” and the home of Peter Paul and Mary’s “Puff” from “Puff the Magic Dragon”.

Plan a fun packed day in the sun with you favorite person or your entire family the next time you are in Kauai on the Hanalei Beach.
